Eco House Made With Heart

I arrived late afternoon as the sun started to fall from the day. I opened the front door and felt instantly at ease. The fire was crackling, and the space felt warm. Ceiling to floor windows wrapped the house and I stood still for a moment, watching the kangaroos eat the green grass outside. I was already looking forward to waking up snuggled up in bed watching the day go by.

The first day easily got away on me. I spent time sipping cups of tea, reading, journalling and listening to the raining land on the tin roof. It was the place to disconnect from technology and reconnect with myself. As the night set in, so did I - and it was the more restful sleep I've had in a longtime.

Woke up feeling wholesome, recharged and ready to discover what Glenlyon had to offer, I set out for adventure! Breakfast stop at the local General Store just down the road which was a pleasant find - full of produce, home grown goodness and delicious coffee! I grabbed a couple of snacks for a picnic and set off on my merry way to chase waterfalls. Loddon Falls was flowing strong after the rain that night. I climbed the sculptural looking rocks and got up close and personal to Lady Loddon! She was roaring loud and proud. I sat there, eating some gummy bears, and watched the falls do what she does best. I felt a sense of freedom sitting there in nature. The crisp fresh air, the dancing light over the landscape - what a time to be breathe and be alive.

The day was disappearing once again, and I packed up my picnic and climbed back to the top of the falls where I parked my van. A short de-tour on the way back to a local winery to pick up a deep red shiraz to go with the deep outdoor bath back at the humble abode. I just knew this combo would finish the day off just nicely under the stars. And indeed it did my friends. It was 5 shooting stars out of 5.

A short walk to view the falls from the top, although if you want more like me to get up nice and personal, you'll need to climb down the natural stone steps and follow the tracks. Great spot for a picnic too on the giant rocks. I spent all afternoon watching the day go by.....

There's plenty of local wineries to discover but Atwood's Wines was close to the falls. I did a little tasting but didn't take long to figure out which one I was after....
