Mesa Bus - Deluxe Byron Hinterland Eco Stay

No pets
A deluxe private eco-stay with a difference in the Byron Hinterland.

Heavenly king bed and four long singles. Lux bathroom. Dreamy fire pit. Indoor and outdoor living/dining/chilling. Aeropress organic coffee. Epic vistas and transformative quiet.

We're on the plateau, or mesa, of the ancient Bundjalung caldera - just 10 mins from Minyon Falls and 30 mins to Byron's beaches. Follow our map, a rainbow, or just succumb to the magnetism of rainforest and red earth. We can't wait to welcome you. It's pretty nice here.

We booked Mesa Bus last minute for a weekend getaway in nature. Everything was easy, great info and what a great spot to just sit and take in the surrounds. Thanks Matt for having our family.

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Mesa Bus. The cozy feel with a stunning view was a perfect setting for our short stay. I wish we booked for longer!
Our host Matt was very friendly a...nd helpful, keeping us updated on an unfortunate area power outage (not at fault of the property).
We had the best time exploring the area together. Visiting Goonengerry National Park, Minyon Falls, Clunes, The Eltham Hotel, Bangalow, and Cape Byron Distillery. We highly recommend this stay and putting your phone away.

Bath With A View

To unwind after our surfing adventures, we relaxed in a luxurious bath with breathtaking views. Sweeping landscapes provided a serene backdrop for a blissful soak.

As the sun set, we gathered around a crackling campfire, taking in the enchanting views of the Byron Hinterland.

Minyon Falls Base Hike

Minyon Falls Base Hike

Minyon Falls is a 200m drop watefall nestled in the valley of Nightcap National Park. This is the start of multiple walking tracks but we chose to hike to the base and were rewarded with the power of the roaring falls right in front of us!

Nightcap Hikes

This beautiful hike down to the base of Minyon Falls is well worth the huffing and puffing on the way back up. If a challenging hike isn't your thing, the view from the top of Minyon Falls (which can be accessed in an easy five minute walk from the car park) is breathtaking in itself!
Minyon Falls

Minyon Falls

It’s only a short walk to the lookout from the carpark. There is also a loop walk that takes you to the base of the falls where you can take a lovely dip in the freshwater.
Doma Cafe

Doma Cafe

This Japanese/Aussie fusion cafe was the best place to enjoy a sunny arvo with the kids. The staff are beautiful and the food is AMAZING!

Doma A Lunch Gem

If you don’t already know about Doma, it’s time to get in the knowma. All dad jokes aside, this is one of the hinterlands best kept not-so-secret places to grab a bite. There’s not much out in Federal but what they do have is quality. I love this joint for their sushi hand rolls and outdoor, sunshine dining. Mona and I really took our time here, ordering our warm drinks, and making small talk with some people we knew that we just happened to run into. It’s that kind of place where you’ll see an old friend and possibly someone who’s insta famous (I fangirled out when the @inspiredunemployed took the table right behind us) but it’s not blown out Byron vibes, if that makes sense. It’s cool but it’s not blown out cool (yet). The food is great, the vibe is great - all around great.
